For their tour to support the album, “1984” Van Halen would hijack a logo created for Western Exterminator Pesticide Company in 1931 by artist, Vaughn Kaufman. Van Halen’s version of, “Little Man” that made it on their merchandise was only slightly altered from the original and was without the smaller image of a rodent being lured to its inevitable demise. The band enjoyed the use of the image without any legal recompense from Western Exterminator who, instead, relished the world wide attention the band brought to their business. 40 years later and we’re hijacking it from VanHalen.
